In 3 weeks WE are there …
Last night (Benin time) I called Salifou – the proud gentleman with the two babies in his arms (see last post). Xeni gave me his phone number and she told him that I would call. When he picked up his phone, he knew immediately who I was and I felt his deep gratefulness and happiness simply by the sound of his voice. I’ve reached him on his way from the airport, he just dropped off Xeni and waved her goodbye. I am sure this was touching, very emotional for both sides … I don’t know yet how it feels leaving Benin behind – but I got a slight taste of how it feels when you bring direct help to people.
This really gives me the experience and the feeling WE are doing right!
I am so excited and also so emotional involved – it is really time to go!
